McDonalds prepare for the green future
McDonald’s has announced a new partnership with InstaVolt, introducing their future plans to install rapid EV charging points across UK Drive-Thru restaurants.
The InstaVolt EV chargers are extremely rapid, capable of charging at 125kW, the fastest in the UK. This partnership is the first of its kind for a huge UK restaurant chain, the accessibility of rapid charging for drivers across the UK will increase, providing convenient and recognisable locations beyond service stations, residential streets and workplaces.
“We’re delighted to take this first step on an incredibly important journey for McDonald’s as we continue to look at ways to use renewables to address carbon emissions. Our partnership with InstaVolt is a real step forward for those already driving electric vehicles, as well as people considering making the switch, and takes advantage of our scale with over 1,300 restaurants. Our ambition means that UK drivers should never be far from a charging point outside our restaurants. (Beth Hart, 2020)
The InstaVolt network has built itself a great reputation in the industry-leading for high levels of reliability. A Zap-Map survey suggested for two consecutive years, electric car drivers across the county named InstaVolt as their favourite charging network.
Zap-Map is one of InstaVolt’s dynamic data partners. Zap Map allows users to view up to date information on the network’s charging points. When new charging points go live, they will appear on Zap-Map, it’s status being continuously updated for drivers to see where a charge point is available, in use, or out of service.
McDonald’s goal is to create a nationwide charging network, supporting the increase for EVs, while the business plays it’s part in contributing to a greener future.
